Sketches and songs are simple yet lively, with a great deal of entertainment value. Most material is aimed at primary school children, but much is adaptable, and some sketches have been written with an older audience in mind. Because of the visual nature of presentations, it is easy for even very young children, or those with learning difficulties, to maintain interest throughout a performance.
Each year for schools, we offer programmes of twenty minute duration, covering the themes of Easter and Christmas.
At other times we offer extra programmes, such as a Christian perspective on Hallowe'en, dealing with childhood fears, or a programme based around a particular Bible story or truth.
Besides schools, we also perform for churches, clubs and Homes for the Elderly.
The only requirements are:-
Space - enough to erect the stage and seat the audience, and Power - for the p.a. system.
There is no charge for any of the performances. Although the team is made up of amateurs, this reflects the financial status of the performances, not the quality! Indeed, as well as being technically skilled, the team presents material sensitively.
What others have said...
"Hands Up! Puppet Theatre have visited our school twice. On both occasions the children were enthralled by the puppets and broke into a spontaneous applause. All children across the primary age range would enjoy the exciting way that Hands Up! convey the Christian message."
Jeff Winn, Headteacher - Mead Vale Primary School, Worle
"The puppet group ... were much appreciated. Not only were they very professional in their preparation and presentation but the message was clear, cringe-free and communicated the message .... very ably."
Rev Richard Salmon, Former Governor - St. Andrews Junior School, Congresbury
"This was the second time you have visited us, and the Christmas show told the ... story in a fun way."
Susan Vesey, Headteacher - St. Brandon's School, Clevedon
