Specifically we support Youth Life

It is a humanitarian work that aims to give young people purpose, meaning and hope in their lives through weekly clubs, physical activities, such as break-dance and adventures through camps. The work has grown from small beginnings and there are now 29 clubs reaching in excess of 1500 children, and also Summer Camps which are making a real impact.

Background

Tajikistan is the poorest of the former Soviet republics, with 76 per cent of its child population living under the poverty line of $2.15 a day. Unemployment has so devastated the educated population that even many of them believe education is pointless, especially when it comes to girls.

“It is very difficult to give an education to the whole family because of poverty,” a seasonal farm worker in a district of northern Tajikistan. “They cannot send the children to school because of fees. On top of this, they have to buy textbooks and shoes. You need money for this.”

Please donate so we can support.
